Documenting can become more than anticipated… Allow this workshop to help you get organized! This Play Wellness learning experience focuses on play therapy documentation related to writing quality session notes to enhance ethical practice and case conceptualization skills. Participants will explore ways to document efficiently for optimal case management. Please bring your play therapy session note template with a writing sample.
This workshop includes the following Play Therapy Primary Areas: Play Therapy Theories (2 hours) and Play Therapy Skills/Methods (10 hours). This workshop provides contact, synchronous learning via live webinar. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for (6 hrs) CONTACT CE Hours.

After the workshop, participants will be able to:
Review three play therapy documentation guidelines as described in the Play Therapy Best Practices (Association for Play Therapy, 2019)
List three ways to document responsibly and ethically within play therapy
Analyze three documentation formats for integration into play therapy session notes
Critique five pros and cons regarding the use of electronic health records within the context of play therapy
Discuss nine essential components of a play therapy session note
Assess two play therapy session notes, including the Child Centered review form and BASK session summary
Apply five steps for writing play therapy session notes
Create one play therapy session note based on the treatment process
Design one play therapy session note based on the session type
Prepare one play therapy session note based on a critical incident in play therapy
Prepare one clinical note on a play therapy session form to enhance documentation and case conceptualization skills
Demonstrate the use of one cognitive reframe to build professional confidence related to providing quality documentation
This workshop is for twelve (12) continuing education hours. Certificates are issued at the end of the workshop pending full attendance and completion of a post-test (if applicable) and the workshop evaluation.
Play Therapists: Play Wellness LLC has been approved as a continuing education provider by the Association for Play Therapy: APT Approved Provider 16-449. Per the Association for Play Therapy (APT), play therapy training may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals. APT alone holds the right to accept or deny any continuing education training at its discretion.
Counselors: Play Wellness LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6828. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Play Wellness LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Other Professionals: This course qualifies for 12 hours of instruction content as required by many national, state, and local licensing boards and professional organizations. Retain your certificate of completion and contact your board or organization for specific filing requirements.
Accommodations: Play Wellness is glad to make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants with different abilities. Attendance: By registering for the workshop, the participant is pledging to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the workshop. Per associations that grant continuing education (CEs), participants who arrive late or depart early from the workshop will forfeit CEs for the entire workshop. Additionally, all virtual live workshops require webcam usage. Handouts are not provided to participants who miss the training. If the participant misplaces a CE certificate, there is a $25 replacement fee.
Cancellations: Written cancellation requests that are emailed to [email protected] with at least 10 business days prior to the selected training will be provided a refund minus a $40 per training day processing fee. Credit/refunds are not provided for scheduled trainings that are cancelled with less than ten business days of notice. Play Wellness LLC reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to inclement weather or instructor illness/emergency. When applicable, participants will be notified via email prior to the date of the cancelled workshop. Participants will be emailed information regarding the rescheduled date within ten business days of the cancelled workshop.
Capacity: Play Wellness reserves the right to change locations, formats, and/or offer additional dates and times for workshops that have less registrants or that are full to capacity. Participants will be provided with advanced notice if applicable.

If a potential conflict of interest occurs, the trainer will clearly state financial support or other conflicts of interest at the time the continuing education program begins.
Grievance: Play Wellness desires for you to receive quality training in a fun learning environment. If the participant has a concern regarding any aspect of the workshop, it is expected that the participant will address it with the continuing education chair, Yolanda Fountain, Ph.D., LPC, RPT-S, ACS, NCC, via verbal and/or written documentation aimed at achieving a satisfactory resolution for the participant. To assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, the advisory committee may be included in the process.

Yolanda Fountain, Ph.D., LPC, RPT-S, ACS, NCC is the owner of Play Wellness LLC and the founder of the Child Loss Center, Inc. Dr. Fountain is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Mercer University and a post-graduate certificate in Working with Survivors of Violence, Torture, and Trauma from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Fountain has worked in the mental/behavioral health field since 2006 in the grade school, community, psychiatric residential, college counseling, and private practice settings. She uses talk and non-verbal therapies (e.g., play therapy, game therapy, sand therapy) to help people of all ages and has a passion to care for helping professionals, parents and their children, Black Americans, and those with experiences of grief, perinatal/ infant/child loss, and trauma. Dr. Fountain has extensive experience in higher education as a counselor, professor, and clinical supervisor and teaches graduate-level counseling courses at several universities. She has also presented at local, regional, national, and international conferences on multiple topics related to mental health (wellness and illness). Dr. Fountain strongly advocates for the effective care and wellbeing of clinicians to stimulate optimal client care and wellness.
This workshop integrates theory and experiential learning. Teaching methods often include a lecture with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation, individual/group experiential activities, individual reflection, group discussion, role-playing, case presentations, critical thinking exercises, video review/critique, and/or an e-learning examination.
