For over 18 years, Nina M. Deshpande, “Mrs. Nina,”has supported children, teens, and families connected to the foster care and juvenile justice systems. Nina also has clinical experiences in youth development agencies, residential facilities, alternative school settings, and private homes. She often incorporates art, games, puppets and theater skills into her sessions. Nina utilizes cognitive behavioral play therapy (CBPT), child-centered play therapy (CCPT), and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) practices to assist children and teens in developing effective life skills and in exploring their individual path and authentic self. She also consults with teachers, parents, and guardians seeking guidance on how to navigate school-related support services.
Nina is a Licensed Professional Counselor (in the state of Georgia), a Certified School Counselor, and a play therapist (under the supervision of Dr. Yolanda Fountain Hardy). She holds a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Theater from The University of Georgia.
