...mental health wellness for infants to geriatrics

INFANTS, TODDLERS, & PRESCHOOLERS

Picture
The importance of perinatal (pregnancy/postpartum) and infant mental health is increasingly gaining attention.  A child's life between the ages of 0 to 5 are considered the critical years because it establishes the foundation for neurological and attachment functioning.  Equally important is the parent's mental health, in which additional stressors can occur with pregnancy, child loss or birth, family adjustments, and parenting roles.  Play Wellness believes that addressing infant mental health is the key to preventing mental illness.  As such, we strive to assist parents during this transition and to facilitate healthy attunement and relationships between parents and infants to promote generational wellness. Therapeutic approaches may include Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), play therapy, and brainspotting (for pregnant/birthing bodies).

CHILDREN

Children ages 5 to 12 experience multiple developmental and environmental changes.  From daycare to elementary school to middle school, children are constantly navigating and adjusting within their bodies, at their schools, with peers, and within caregiver relationships.   Play Wellness focuses on providing children with a safe space to communicate past experiences and needs using their language of play.  We also help parents to implement effective parenting skills to raise well-adjusted and responsible human beings.  Therapeutic approaches may include play therapy and brainspotting.

TEENAGERS

The teenage brain goes through a sort of revamping process, which can explain irrational decisions, impulsive behaviors, and emotional outbursts.  Yet, being a teenager also provides the opportunity for self-discovery, identity development, and purpose exploration.  Play Wellness assists teenagers with enhancing emotional, behavioral, and relational wellness and parents with responding gracefully while balancing love and limits.  Therapeutic approaches may include brainspotting and integrating game or play therapy activities with talk therapy.
