This workshop focuses on ethical issues and dilemmas that impact the play therapy supervision climate.  Play Therapy supervisors and supervisees are commonly faced with concerns that impede the parallel process.  In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to address the good, the bad, and the ugly related to supervisory ethical guidelines as shared in the Association for Play Therapy’s Best Practices (2019).  Ethical issues that will be addressed include the following: 1) goal setting with supervisees who utilize Child Centered Play Therapy, 2) the use of social media by clients, supervisees, and supervisors, 3) multicultural needs and concerns within the supervisory relationship, 4) balancing challenges related to gatekeeping and challenging supervisee behaviors, and 5) exploring supervisee and supervisor self-care needs.  This workshop will include role plays, open discussion on critical issues in supervision practice, and practical activities to aid Registered Play Therapist-Supervisors with enhancing supervision outcomes.

This workshop includes the following Play Therapy Primary Areas: Play Therapy History (1 hour), Play Therapy Skills and Methods (2 hours), and Play Therapy Special Topics (3 hours).  This workshop provides contact, synchronous learning via live webinar.
Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for (6 hrs) CONTACT CE Hours.

Supervisor Care Activities, Conclusion
​After the workshop, participants will be able to:
●      Identify two ethical guidelines as promulgated by the Association for Play Therapy’s Best Practices (2019) regarding play therapy supervision
●      Demonstrate effective use of setting goals with supervisees who utilize Child Centered Play Therapy
●      List three challenging influences of social media within the play therapy supervision process
●      Explore two ways that addressing multiculturalism within play therapy supervision can facilitate personal awareness and growth
●      Discuss two challenging supervisee behaviors that adversely impact the play therapy supervisory relationship
●      Apply two supervision activities that enhance professional self-care
This workshop provides six (6) continuing education hours.  Certificates are issued at the end of the workshop pending full attendance and completion of a post-test (if applicable) and the workshop evaluation.  ​

​Play Therapists: Play Wellness LLC has been approved as a continuing education provider by the Association for Play Therapy: APT Approved Provider 16-449.  Per the Association for Play Therapy (APT), play therapy training may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.   APT alone holds the right to accept or deny any continuing education training at its discretion. 

Counselors: Play Wellness LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6828.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Play Wellness LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.  

Other Professionals: This course qualifies for 12 hours of instructional content as required by many national, state and local licensing boards and professional organizations.  Retain your certificate of completion and contact your board or organization for specific filing requirements.
Accommodations: Play Wellness is glad to make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants with different abilities. If the participant needs ADA accommodations, the participant needs to discuss his/her specific needs and make the necessary arrangements before registering and with at least ten (10) business days advanced notice via phone at 678-395-4965 or email at training@playwellness.net.

Attendance: By registering for the workshop, the participant is pledging to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the workshop. Per associations that grant continuing education (CEs), participants who arrive late or depart early from the workshop will forfeit CEs for the entire workshop. Additionally, all virtual live workshops require webcam usage. Handouts are not provided to participants who miss the training. If the participant misplaces a CE certificate, there is a $25 replacement fee.

Cancellations: Written cancellation requests that are emailed to training@playwellness.net with at least 10 business days prior to the selected training will be provided a refund minus a $40 per training day processing fee. Credit/refunds are not provided for scheduled trainings that are cancelled with less than ten business days of notice. Play Wellness LLC reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to inclement weather or instructor illness/emergency. When applicable, participants will be notified via email prior to the date of the cancelled workshop. Participants will be emailed information regarding the rescheduled date within ten business days of the cancelled workshop.

Capacity: Play Wellness reserves the right to change locations, formats, and/or offer additional dates and times for workshops that have less registrants or that are full to capacity. Participants will be provided with advanced notice if applicable.

Commercial Support / Conflict of Interest Statement: There is currently no financial support or potential conflicts of interest for the training program at Play Wellness LLC.  If a potential conflict of interest occurs, the trainer will clearly state financial support or other conflicts of interest at the time the continuing education program begins.

Grievance: Play Wellness desires for you to receive quality training in a fun learning environment. If the participant has a concern regarding any aspect of the workshop, it is expected that the participant will address it with the continuing education chair, Yolanda Fountain, Ph.D., LPC, RPT-S, ACS, NCC, via verbal and/or written documentation aimed at achieving a satisfactory resolution for the participant. To assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, the advisory committee may be included in the process.

Photos/Videos: Play Wellness shares professional fun moments taken during our trainings on our social media pages and for other marketing and educational purposes.  Images (photos or video recordings) may be edited, copied, exhibited, published or distributed in perpetuity with no geographic limitations.  If you prefer not to have your likeness published, document such desires in the “additional comments/questions” section of the registration page.

Yolanda Fountain, Ph.D., LPC, ACS, NCC, RPT-S is the owner of Play Wellness LLC in Roswell, Georgia and the founder of the Child Loss Center Inc.  She enjoys supervising, facilitating workshops, teaching graduate level courses, and providing professional counseling, play therapy, and sand therapy services.

Anita Martin, M.A., LPC-S, NCC, BC-TMC, RPT-S is the owner of Martin Counseling Services, LLC in Conway, Arkansas. She provides counseling services to individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression with the use of play therapy, sand therapy, yoga, EMDR, and Brainspotting to assist with self-regulation.
This workshop integrates theory and experiential learning.  Teaching methods often include a lecture with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation, individual/group experiential activities, individual reflection, group discussion, role-playing, case presentations, critical thinking exercises, video review/critique, and/or an e-learning examination. 

Each participant will need to bring the following materials:
  • Pen/pencil and coloring supplies (e.g., crayons, colored pencils, markers)
  • White paper
  • One sheet of white cardstock and scissors - OR - a blank puzzle (that can be drawn on)
  • Activity handouts that need to be printed and additional materials needed may be emailed prior to the workshop
​Our workshops are evaluated based on the following criterion: 1) Program Objectives, 2) Content, 3) Instructor, 4) Venue/Setting, and 5) Learning.
